Beaugency, on foot from the hotel
The eleventh-century keep, the abbey church of Notre-Dame, the Saint-Firmin tower and the bridge over the Loire are all within walking distance of the hotel. The Loire Valley has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000, and Beaugency is one of its quieter stops, between two towns where the coaches tend to stop instead.

The swimming pool
At the end of the garden, a pool heated to 27 °C, open from 1 June to 30 September, 8.30am to 9.30pm, for hotel guests. Loungers by the water, towels at reception at no extra charge. There is no lifeguard.
Le Comptoir de l'Écu
Our bar is open to everyone, hotel guests or not, every day from 4pm to 10.30pm. Twenty wines on the list, fourteen of them from the Loire Valley; nine are served by the glass, from €6. Plus thirty-eight cocktails, four beers on tap and eight whiskies. Sit in the air-conditioned room or out in the garden by the pool.

Every morning we fetch the baguette and the multigrain loaf from La Grange à Pain, two streets away. The buffet, sweet and savoury, is served from 6.30am on weekdays and 7am at weekends, in an air-conditioned room: time enough to leave early for the châteaux.
The area
Beaugency and the châteaux, from the hotel
Beaugency takes a morning on foot: the eleventh-century keep, the abbey church of Notre-Dame, the Renaissance town hall and the bridge, whose first arches are medieval. For the châteaux you will want the car: Chambord is 28 minutes away, and each makes an easy day out.

The old town, on your doorstep
The keep, the abbey church, the Renaissance town hall and the timber-framed houses take a morning on foot, without the car. Below them, the bridge crosses the Loire where people already crossed it in the Middle Ages. The market runs on Wednesday mornings and on Saturdays until 2pm, around the place du Martroi.
Travelling by bike?
Beaugency sits roughly halfway between Orléans and Blois: some thirty kilometres behind you, about forty ahead. The hotel is in the historic centre, a few minutes from the Loire à Vélo route. Your bike spends the night in a locked room, and breakfast starts at 6.30am on weekdays.
Chambord, 28 minutes away
Chambord is 25 km away, with no motorway and no toll. Meung-sur-Loire is 11 km away, Orléans 35, Blois 39, Cheverny 54 and Chaumont-sur-Loire 58: all under an hour's drive.

Yes, throughout the hotel and in the rooms, at no extra charge.
Is there a restaurant?
No, we only serve breakfast. Beaugency has several places to eat a few minutes' walk away: reception will tell you which ones are open the evening you are here.
Can you smoke in the hotel?
No. The whole hotel is non-smoking, e-cigarettes included.
Is the tourist tax included in the price?
No, it is added to the room rate: €1.10 per person per night from the age of 18, passed on to the Communauté de communes des Terres du Val de Loire.
Are pets allowed?
