Le Comptoir de l'Écu

The hotel bar, open to everyone, every day from 4pm to 10.30pm.

Our bar opens at 4pm and closes at 10.30pm, every day. It is not reserved for hotel guests: you can push the door open for a drink without sleeping upstairs.

A wine list that belongs here

Of our 20 wines, 14 come from the Loire Valley.

In red, a Cheverny from Domaine du Vardet, two Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, and three Chinon: Les Joueurs and Les Lutteurs from Domaine de la Chapelle, Pallus from Domaine des Bernard. In white, an organic Touraine sauvignon from Domaine de la Cotellerie, a Quincy from Philippe Portier, a Saumur, a Menetou-Salon from La Tour Saint-Martin, and two Chinon.

9 of them are served by the glass, from €6, seven of those from the region: enough to work through three appellations in one evening, without getting back in the car.

We look further afield when it is worth it: a Pomerol, a Cahors from Clos Triguedina, a Haut-Médoc, a Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits, and a Devaux blanc de noirs champagne.
