In the room
Your pet sleeps with you
Our 32 rooms are air-conditioned and leave room for a basket or a blanket. Bring his usual things: bedding, bowls, a toy. A pet that finds its own belongings settles in at once.
The car stays in the courtyard
Travelling with a pet usually means travelling by car. The courtyard is closed from 11pm to 6am, 6.30am at weekends: you unload the basket at the door and do the rest on foot.

The garden and the pool
While the pool is open, from 1 June to 30 September, the garden is open to your companion. From 4pm it falls into shade. He may stay beside you at the poolside; swimming in the pool is for humans only.
The rest of the year, the walk starts in front of the hotel and on the Mail, just behind it.
With a cat
Cats are at home here: legend has it the townspeople outwitted the devil by sending a cat across the bridge, and the people of Beaugency have been nicknamed after it ever since.
More of a homebody than a dog, a cat often prefers to stay quiet while you are out. Set out the litter tray, the bowls and a place to sleep as soon as you arrive.
- His carrier doubles as a reassuring hiding place in the room.
- Bring his usual litter and food: sudden changes unsettle him.
- Keep the windows shut, or only ajar while you are watching.
- If he is used to a harness, he can come with you to the garden in season.
Walks
The Mail, just behind the hotel
The walk starts at the end of the street and goes down to the riverside. It is the morning outing before breakfast and the evening one after dinner. The town has put up bag dispensers all over.
The old town
A two-hour loop through the old centre, on the lead: the place du Martroi, the clock tower, the place Saint-Firmin and place Dunois, then down to the Loire. The detailed route is on our page about the town.
The quays and the Barchelin walk
The quays suit a quiet walk at any hour. To the west, the Barchelin walk follows the river to the Observa'Loire, with a picnic area for a stop.
Les Rives de Beaugency, on the lead
Past the bridge, on the south bank, a 4 km path crosses a nature site managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels. Terns nest on the islands and beavers use the banks: the lead is essential, especially in spring and summer.
Care by the water
The Loire is a wild river, with strong currents and shifting sandbanks. Even when the water looks calm, keep your dog close and avoid letting him swim.
Good to know
Restaurants that welcome pets
Le P'tit Bateau (54 rue du Pont), L'idée (3 place du Petit-Marché) and Chez Henri II (43 rue du Pont) are happy to have pets. Mention it when you book your table. In fine weather the terraces on the place du Martroi and the rue du Pont work well too.
Market days
On Wednesday and Saturday mornings the place du Martroi is busy. Keep your dog close, or use the time to go down to the Loire before the crowd.
A vet five minutes away
There is a veterinary clinic at Tavers, five minutes away by car. Reception will give you the details if you need them.
In the bag
- The vaccination record, up to date.
- The lead and a few waste bags.
- Bedding, bowls and his usual food.
- A water bottle for walks, especially in summer.
